5 natural ways to boost energy! August 17, 2015 Aug 17 2015 What’s the first thing you think of when you want to boost your energy levels? Coffee? Tea? Red Bull? But did you ever wonder what it is about caffeine that gives you energy? Is it helping your body’s cells make more energy? Wrong. Unfortunately caffeine isn’t helping your body generate more energy, instead it encourages the body to release more stress hormones (like adrenaline), which pump out more glucose for your brain to use. So really, you’re forcing your body to exhaust its reserve of stress hormones on a daily basis. Not good. Here are some non-caffeinated ways to boost your energy the next time you’re eyeing a Red Bull in need of a quick fix. No whining yet, give all of these a try first 🙂 Coconut water Natural sugar to give you that energy boost B-Vitamins required for energy production Contains natural electrolytes (found in sports drinks) to improve heart, nerve and muscle function Green smoothie Whack-load of vitamins and minerals, especially B Vitamins Go for a walk Get your blood pumping to get more oxygen and nutrients to your cells Sometimes fresh air is all it takes to feel more energized Eat a piece of fruit or a raw energy ball Natural sugar Fibre to prevent an energy crash, allows sugar to release slowly into bloodstream Put on some music This one goes hand in hand with “go for a walk”. Plug in some motivational tunes and get yourself out the door! About Alina I'm a Holistic Nutritionist based in Toronto, Canada and my official title is Certified Nutritional Practitioner (CNP).
